Public service teams work harder and harder to protect the general public from increasingly riskier situations.
Post 9/11, the U.S. Coast Guard relies more heavily on domestic law enforcement to help patrol the nation.s waterways and ports. The United States Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported in 2005 that 17,910 children under the age of 14 either fatally drowned or received emergency care for a near-fatal drowning. Water Rescue is 400 times more dangerous than any other rescue activity undertaken by civilian public safety personnel. We owe it to them to ensure they have the most comprehensive training available. |
